Private motoring costs for Magistrate’s Court cases

In circumstances where you are eligible for legal aid we will advise you accordingly and help you apply. However for quite a number of motoring offences you may not be eligible for legal aid.

There are a range of offences that are summary only offences that are only heard in the Magistrates Court.

Taylor Rose MW has vast experience in representing clients and achieving excellent outcomes on a wide range of motoring offences. Our team of specialist lawyers have acted for clients on numerous offences involving:

  1. Driving with excess alcohol.
  2. Driving whilst disqualified.
  3. Driving without due care and attention/Careless driving.
  4. Driving whilst using a mobile phone.
  5. Failing to provide a specimen.
  6. Failing to stop after an accident.
  7. Failing to report an accident.
  8. Driving in excess of the speed limit.
  9. s.172 failing to provide driver details.
  10. Driving with no insurance.
  11. Driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

For the offences above our hourly charging rates are:

  1. a Partner or Solicitor over 8 years qualified - £275 per hour (+20% VAT of £55)
  2. a Solicitor under 8 years qualified - £220 per hour (+20% VAT of £44)
  3. Non-qualified staff  - £145 per hour plus VAT (+20% VAT of £29)

We may be able to offer a fixed fee but this will depend on an initial assessment to determine whether the case is suitable for us to proceed under a fixed fee. Factors such as the complexity of the matter, the nature of your plea and amount of witnesses will be taken into consideration.
