How Do Taylor Rose MW Carbon Balance?

Tue 10 August 2021 How Do Taylor Rose MW Carbon Balance?

When looking at our current world, climate change has had a massive impact on our daily lives. Here at Taylor Rose MW, we have looked at how we can be more environmentally friendly through our suppliers.

We have been working with our printing supplier Healey’s Printers, and The World Land Trust to minimise our carbon footprint. From July 2019 to July 2021, we have managed to balance the equivalent of 52,300kg of carbon dioxide and protect 37,240m² of critically threatened tropical forest. In 2021 alone, we have balanced a total of 3,333kg of carbon dioxide and 2,333m² of critically threatened tropical forest so far.

Healey’s Printers use carbon balanced paper, environmentally friendly inks and green processes for all of the branded materials we order. They also carbon balance their entire print production including all deliveries. What this means is that as a collective, with every business card, conveyancing guide and other branded literature printed, we are helping the environment through carbon balancing.

Carbon balancing is a means where the carbon dioxide produced by our activities are measured. They are then balanced or offset through investment in conservation schemes.

Together with Healey’s and World Land Trust, we can actively support the preservation of forests which are under threat of clearance. By doing so we can protect endangered habitats and species residing within these forests. We can also lock in carbon that would otherwise be released as CO2, meaning we can alter the current energy infrastructure to assist with climate change. Whilst this may seem like a small change, carbon balancing has had a massive impact on influencing our carbon footprint and allows us to aid with global climate change.

Since the launch of carbon balanced paper in 2013, over 2,000 organisations in the UK use it. As a result, more than 153,000 tonnes of CO2 have been balanced, whilst 13,140 acres of ecologically endangered land has been preserved.

Healey’s are Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) Accredited and use FSC certified papers. The FSC’s ‘chain of custody’ ensures that the paper products come from well managed and sustainable forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.

The World Land Trust, are an international conservationist charity. They protect the world’s most biologically significant and threatened habitats acre by acre. Through a network of partner organisations, World Land Trust funds the creation of reserves and provides permanent protection for habitats in the wildlife.

By collaborating with printing companies across the UK, the World Land Trust have balanced over 179,500 tonnes of carbon. This is equivalent to taking 50,600 cars off the road a year. From January 2019 to December 2020. they had preserved 17,760 acres of land which is equivalent to 10,070 football pitches. Carbon balancing in this way can help prevent the rise CO2 levels and loss of glaciers, coral reefs, and endangered Species. These changes make a wider impact overall in the sustainability of the earth’s resources.

“The money that is given to the World Land Trust, in my estimation, has more effect on the wild world than almost anything I can think of.” -  Sir David Attenborough, World Land Trust Patron

As our firm continues to grow, we hope to work alongside Healey's Printers and the World Land Trust to build upon this achievement and support a sustainable future.
