Taylor Rose TTKW’s new charity partner for 2020/2021: The Alzheimer’s Society

Wed 13 May 2020 Taylor Rose TTKW’s new charity partner for 2020/2021: The Alzheimer’s Society

Each year Taylor Rose TTKW fundraises for a charity partner nominated and voted on by staff and we’re pleased to announce that in March it was the Alzheimer’s Society that received the most votes.

The Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity who campaigns for change and helps to fund research into finding a cure. It also provides much-needed support to people living with dementia and their families.

Unfortunately, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the Government’s lockdown measures have meant that we have not been able to begin our fundraising efforts the way we initially planned. However, thankfully we have been able to donate the sum of £100,000 to the charity out of residual funds.

Director Simon Banfield, based in our London Moorgate Office, contacted the charity in March to let them know the good news.

Gary Sutcliffe, the charity’s Community Fundraiser, said of the unexpected donation: “This is a truly amazing, generous and much-needed amount at the moment so a thank you on behalf of us all at the Alzheimer’s Society.”

We understand from the charity that 700,000 people with dementia are likely to be isolated due to Covid-19 and in response to this the charity has launched an emergency appeal to increase support for its Dementia Connect Support Line and additional companion calls service for people living with dementia, described as a “virtual arm around shoulders”.

We are proud to be supporting this worthy cause and, once the lockdown measures ease, we hope to be able to support the charity’s national events later in the year, including the Memory Walk on 4th October and Elf Day in December.
