Prior to entering the legal profession, I spent 9 years working as a paid debt and welfare rights adviser in the voluntary sector. I qualified as a Solicitor in 2001 and for the majority of time I handled personal injury claims primarily involving occupational diseases. In the last few years, I have used my litigation skills to bring claims for false imprisonment against the Home Office arising from immigration detention cases, the highest settlement to date being £75,000.
I have also handled other areas of litigation namely data breach compensation claims and landlord possession actions.
Recently, I have migrated towards immigration law and am handling a variety of applications namely leave to remain for spouses and parents of British Citizens, right of abode and naturalisation.
Outside of work, I am studying German having reached the intermediate stage and have recently started learning Urdu. Other interests include playing badminton and being a lifelong cinema buff.
