James is a Partner and Head of Commercial Litigation at Taylor Rose. He studied Law at University College London (UCL), graduating in 1995. He initially qualified as an Advocate & Solicitor in Malaysia in 1997 and re-qualified as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales in 1999.

He deals with a variety of matters, such as high value and strategically important litigation, including:

  • Breach of contract claims

  • Warranty disputes

  • Manufacturing related disputes

  • Engineering disputes

  • Franchise litigation

  • Risk/regulatory management.

Professionally, he is a CEDR Accredited Mediator (since 2008) and a Commercial Mediator at CCPIT (Beijing). He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb) and the Institute of Directors (IoD); supports several non-profit charities, including serving as the President of England China Business Forum and a member of the Board of Trustees of Chinese Information and Advice Centre (CIAC is a 43-year old charity and a recipient of the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service).
