Martin Pratley

Consultant Solicitor - Residential Property

Martin qualified as a Solicitor in 1985 and has worked through the changes and challenges that have faced the profession since then whether in respect of technology or conveyancing procedure. He knows that the most important qualifications that you need to be a good conveyancer are empathy and communication, as well as the knowledge and experience to be able to deal with the particular circumstances of each individual transaction.

He acts for clients (individual or corporate) from first time buyers to experienced property investors in transactions involving freehold or leasehold property as well as both registered and unregistered land.

Recent work examples include:

  • The purchase of a £1.1m freehold house in London (with mortgage) and the purchase of a £160k leasehold retirement flat in Somerset between them involving completely differing considerations and approaches.

  • The surrender / sale back of a shared ownership lease to a social housing provider.

  • The refinance by a corporate client of an investment property.
