Naveed Kayani - New Junior Conveyancer

My experience on the Trainee Conveyancer Programme has been incredible. I have gained a lot of knowledge in all aspects of residential property including buying and selling of freehold and leasehold properties on the programme. Taking part in the programme has given me much confidence to work independently. I have received great support from Liz Lennox who ran the training programme as well as Shirin Manji, a solicitor who I work alongside with.

The Trainee Conveyancer Programme is a six-month programme which allows you to have one to one classes with the trainer and allows you to take on your own files under supervision. It is important that training notes are reviewed regularly to allow you to apply your knowledge to real cases. One of the aspects I enjoyed the most about the course was being able to look at real-life examples of previous cases. This helped me to understand the difficulties which arise in transactions and how to overcome them.

I did find leasehold transactions quite challenging, however, the training sessions, previous examples, and support has enabled me to become more confident in this area. I now enjoy these types of transactions.

I did have to undertake an exam, which I passed first time and enjoyed a graduation ceremony where I was given a certificate. The exam was straightforward and easy to understand.

Overall, the programme has helped me to grow my confidence in an area which I would like to practice in the future.
