We’d like to congratulate Subarna Manikkaratnam for winning our Q4 Legal Directors Award.
Subarna is a Solicitor in our Shared Ownership department. Her role entails undertaking legal work for clients when they are selling and buying properties, as well as dealing with remortgages, transfers of equity and lease extensions. Subarna has a vast amount of experience in residential property law, as well as technical and specialist knowledge in shared ownership transactions.
Based at our Bexleyheath office, Subarna has been an invaluable member of the team since September 2019. Her passion for the legal field was evident from a young age, at around 15, when she decided to pursue a career in the industry. She always had a love for learning and after joining Taylor Rose MW realised how much she enjoyed the technical aspect of Property Law in practice.
Qualifying as a Solicitor
One of Subarna’s greatest accomplishments to date has been qualifying as a Solicitor. At times, this achievement felt out of reach, making the moment she received her admission certificate an incredibly surreal and gratifying experience.
“As a first-generation lawyer, qualifying as a solicitor is an achievement that my family and I will always be proud of. I started at the firm as a paralegal with no legal experience, and looking back at how much knowledge and experience I have gained over the years is truly amazing.”
Handling challenging situations
Subarna firmly believes that for every challenge, there is a solution waiting to be discovered. She takes a proactive approach, evaluating the situation and implementing a well-thought-out plan of action. Subarna has also found great value in seeking advice from her colleagues, who have not only been trusted confidants but also cherished friends. Their willingness to offer guidance has helped Subarna overcome many obstacles.
A Solicitors key to success

The Butterfly Effect: Is the title of the book Subarna would write about her career journey. The focus would be on the resilience and determination she needed to qualify as a Solicitor. She experienced a lot of rejections from law firms throughout the years before landing her first legal job at Taylor Rose . When she nearly gave up trying, something pushed her to continue and in turn this changed her life.
Winning the Director’s Award
Subarna deservingly won the Legal Directors Award based on some incredible feedback she received. Subarna has been praised for her exceptional efficiency and commitment to client satisfaction, ensuring transparency and satisfaction through their transactions.
When Subarna was initially informed of her Q4 Legal Directors Award win, her initial reaction was one of disbelief. It was a huge surprise for her, but she was extremely proud knowing she had been recognised and praised for her work ethic and level of standard.
Outside of Work
Beyond her professional life, Subarna loves travelling and is a passionate food enthusiast, She enjoys to travel to explore diverse cultures and cuisines. In addition to this, Subarna enjoys dancing and kickboxing and is currently teaching herself how to play the guitar. However, above all, Subarna treasures the moments spent with her beloved companion, Cookie, her loyal canine confidant.
In navigating the demands of a healthy work-life balance, Subarna maintains this through meticulous organisation. By prioritising structure and efficiency, she effectively manages work-related stresses, allowing herself to unwind and disconnect at the end of each day with a clear mind and peace of heart.
