Wed 2 December 2020 MW Solicitors shortlisted for Family Firm Award

MW Solicitors, part of the Taylor Rose group , were proud to be shortlisted in the Lexis Nexis Family Law Awards on the 25th November 2020. They were shortlisted in the category of Family Firm of the Year – London. Although the team didn’t win this time, to be shortlisted in such great company was no mean achievement.

The Family Law Awards brought together the family law world to celebrate excellence and recognise their contribution to society.

The awards took place remotely and were a new experience for us all. Instead of the usual chance to get dressed up and share a dinner with our colleagues across the family justice community, we all logged in online to share our experience of the new virtual way of working.

The virtual awards allowed attendees to have a virtual drink with colleagues. After the award ceremony we were able to network with other co-workers. This allowed us to congratulate and catch up after the hard year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

We discussed how we have coped and adapted to the level of change that has occurred this year. We also talked about the increased pressures on the Family Justice system itself.

Everyone was very mindful as we caught up with friends from across the county how tough a time this has been for many of us personally. But also, for our clients who are often the least thought about in our communities.

Our Head of Family, Nicola Jones-King commented: “The COVID lockdown has brought to the fore just how important the support provided by family lawyers is”

”The regular news reports about increased domestic violence and child protection issues underlines how essential our services are and how important it is that we are at the heart of our communities.”

She continued, “The whole team have been amazing in a very challenging year and getting together last night to celebrate with our peers was a well-deserved break.”

“It gave us all a chance to step back for a moment and reflect on what we have achieved,” Nicola said.

Every year the awards support a charity this year it was National Family Mediation. The charity helps families resolve the practical, emotional and financial issues arising from separation. In particular focusing on the needs of children during these challenging times.

As we see the world we know around us adapt to the current pandemic. It’s amazing after all of the increased pressures and hard work to see our family department’s work shortlisted for Family Firm of the Year – London.

Even though the awards event became virtual, like most celebrations this year. It didn’t seem to come as a hinderance to our family team who still had a chance to network with colleagues. They got to speak to co-workers who they hadn’t seen this year and also celebrate all they have achieved.

Congratulations to our family team on all their hard work and being shortlisted for the Family Firm of the Year-London.
