Congratulations to our Newly Qualified Solicitors

Mon 6 March 2023

Congratulations to our newly qualified Solicitors after completing their training contracts with Taylor Rose MW.

We’re pleased to announce that on the 6th December 2022 the below individuals were admitted as Solicitors of the Senior Courts of England and Wales after completing a 2-year training contract with Taylor Rose MW. They have all been offered Newly Qualified Solicitor roles within the firm.

Subarna Manikkaratnam

Subarna joined Taylor Rose MW as a paralegal in our Shared Ownership department in 2019. She began her training contract in June 2021 and completed seats in Shared Ownership, Family Law, and Private Client.

When asked about her time at Taylor Rose MW, Subarna stated that she thoroughly enjoyed her time in all of the departments she completed seats in. She went on to say, “Each department was so different to the next one, so I not only gained knowledge and experience in the specific areas of law, but also transferable skills that I am now able to apply to my own files as a solicitor.”

Subarna’s top three favourite aspects of her training contract were:

  1. Gaining practical and theoretical knowledge in different areas of the law.
  2. Meeting clients from all walks of life and helping make a real difference in their lives.
  3. The trainee socials and getting to know more about her colleagues from different offices on a personal level.

She went on to say that her least favourite part was having to type up her training diary notes on a weekly basis, “it’s safe to say, the hardcopy made its way into the shredder not long after I qualified!”

Overall, Subarna said she “had a wonderful time as a trainee, and though stressful at times, I cannot say that I regret a single moment of it. I’m grateful to the firm and my colleagues who supported me during my training process, and I look forward to staying with Taylor Rose MW for many more years to come.”

Katy Shanel

Katy studied the LLB (Hons) Law degree at City University, London and graduated in 2016. She then went on to study the LLM Legal Practice Course at BBP University (Holborn). Throughout her studies she also volunteered at Citizens Advice Bureau and Tower Hamlets Law Centre, focusing primarily on immigration matters and in particular, asylum cases.

She then secured a position with Taylor Rose MW as a property paralegal in June 2019. During this time, Katy said that she was “lucky enough to work closely with a fantastic partner who was incredibly supportive and always available to answer any questions I had. Because of this, I was able to quickly learn all aspects of the conveyancing process, from instruction to post-completion, and was encouraged to deal with clients directly from an early stage. “

Katy started her training contract with Taylor Rose MW in June 2021 and undertook seats in Residential Property, Private Client and Civil Litigation. She mentioned that “each seat involved the need to adapt quickly, not only to a new office, team and area of law, but also to the needs of clients.”

During her residential property seat, she was encouraged to take on further responsibility and was tasked with carrying out exchanges of contract, raising enquiries and dealing with completions.

“I thoroughly enjoyed working in the fast-paced environment that is conveyancing, particularly throughout the Stamp Duty Land Tax holiday.”

Throughout her Civil Litigation seat, Katy was working directly with the Head of Civil Litigation. This gave her invaluable insight to the firm and allowed her to work with solicitors based in Fulham and Bath. Katy was assisting with a variety of cases including: personal injury, professional negligence, property disputes and employment matters. Katy said that her legal research skills grew immensely throughout this seat.

“I am very grateful to Taylor Rose MW for the opportunities and the support given to me over the past 4 years. I have now joined the Residential Property team in Wimbledon, and I look forward to progressing within the firm.”

Suhani Visana

Suhani graduated from the University of Leicester with a 2:1 degree in Law and completed the Legal Practice Course at the BPP Law School in Holborn. She subsequently joined the firm in August 2019.

Suhani joined the firm as a paralegal and was awarded a training contract to commence in the summer of 2021, following a year and a half of hard work and success via our internal selection process.

During her training contract, Suhani completed a double seat in residential property, a seat in civil litigation and a seat in family law.

Here’s what Suhani had to say regarding her career progression with Taylor Rose MW:

“The experience which I have gained as a paralegal and trainee at Taylor Rose MW has been integral to my growth as a resilient professional in the legal sector. Each challenge which I have faced during my period of training has only ever been met with support and encouragement from my experienced peers who have always provided me with invaluable guidance. This made my training contract even more engaging and fruitful."

"I am very proud to now be a qualified solicitor at Taylor Rose MW within our fast-paced Residential Property Department. I would definitely recommend any aspiring solicitors to apply to the firm for training.”

Selina Ozdemir

Selina joined Taylor Rose MW as a paralegal in 2019 and was awarded a training contract in 2021, after successfully undergoing our internal selection process.

“My training contract has provided me with invaluable experience into numerous practice areas and allowed me to gain substantial experience in my training seats in Property, Private Client and Civil Litigation.

The first-hand exposure you get to high quality legal work and the mentoring on a daily basis is incredibly valuable. The result of this is that you are given a strong and personalised level of training delivered by experienced lawyers who are experts in their respective fields."

"I am very grateful to Taylor Rose MW for the opportunities they have given me over the years and pleased to be continuing my career with the firm as a solicitor specialising in property law.”
