Tue 11 July 2023 What is Taylor Rose's relationship with Australia?

Taylor Rose MW is a top 60 UK law firm which has developed a thriving ‘Consultants Programme’ in partnership with Cambridge Judge Business School.

By having the knowledge in place and growing the number one consultancy programme within the UK, Taylor Rose has recently entered the Australian legal services market by partnering with GTC Legal to develop the model already created here and extend this internationally.

This joint venture marries the Taylor Rose brand, consultancy knowhow and scale with GTC Legal’s local market knowledge and business development expertise to create a market-leading Australian Consultancy Programme.

Australia is a prime market for a legal consultancy programme due to it being one of the most fragmented legal markets in the world. There are currently 55,000 lawyers working for 18,000 law firms, with an average of only three lawyers per firm. Inherited expertise within Taylor Rose Australia should deliver its target of becoming the leading consultancy firm in Australia by 2025.

With office locations across Australia, Taylor Rose currently offers a wide range of services, including Criminal Law, Family, Commercial Litigation and Contested Estates. Taylor Rose sees potential across all legal services, but particularly in Corporate and Property Markets, reflecting their UK expertise and market position.

By partnering and launching in Australia, we aim to integrate our expertise from the UK’s model, such as having a dedicated Consultant Liaison team on hand to help, along with support staff that can help consultants with dictation services, the preparation of costs agreements, matter management and much more. While GTC’s systems, including NebuLaw, prepare our Australian consultants for the best start in their new legal venture, Taylor Rose’s underlying knowledge will make sure that the consultants are supported every step of their journey and the firm can excel in the consultancy offering.

The consultancy offering not only allows a perfect work-life balance alongside being able to work from different locations and offer multiple services, but also enables the consultant to concentrate on their abilities and proficiency. This in turn allows them to offer superior client care and top-notch legal advice without being restricted by strenuous targets, extended working hours and numerous meetings.

Adrian Jaggard, CEO said: “The Consultancy programme and the modern way of working is on the rise, with The Lawyer UK 200 rankings currently having four consultancy firms in the top 100 within the UK and by challenging the tradition and building the number one UK lawyer consultancy programme, it has allowed us to look at expanding into already fragmented legal markets starting with Australia and GTC.”

He continued: “Overall, Australia has always been a market that we have been interested in and the joint venture with GTC Legal allows us to recreate Taylor Rose’s growth strategy down under.”
