Ian has specialised in injury claims since qualifying as a Solicitor over 35 years ago and is accredited by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) as a Senior Litigator.

He has expertise acting for claimants in a wide range of large and complex claims involving serious and fatal injuries. He deals mainly with accidents at work and road traffic collisions but has expertise in disease claims involving work related upper limb disorders (WRULD), exposure to asbestos dust (e.g. asbestosis and mesothelioma) and stress at work as well as collisions at sea.

He is committed to ensuring that the best possible outcome is achieved for clients as quickly as possible, that they are kept fully informed and understand the process throughout.

Many of Ian’s cases have progressed to trial, where settlement could not be achieved by negotiation or mediation, and some to the Court of Appeal including the landmark case of Hatton v Sutherland, a leading stress at work claim, which he won.

In 2019 Ian was jointly presented with the McMillan Williams Personal Injury Lawyer of the year award.
