Taylor Rose MW Celebrates International Women's Day

Tue 7 March 2023 Taylor Rose MW Celebrates International Women's Day

International Women’s Day (IWD) (March 8th) is a global day to celebrate and uphold the achievements of women across the world. It is also a day in which we can recognize and face any challenges women have experienced and will continue to experience on a day-to-day basis. This could include gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.

This year’s campaign theme is #EmbraceEquity which has an aim to promote the discussion about why equal opportunities alone are no longer enough. For example, it would be considered as equal to give everyone in a group the exact same bike. Although, members of this group could be wheelchair user’s and would not receive the same benefit. Equity would go further to consider their disability and allocate that member resources needed to reach a fair and equal outcome.

Equality is about ensuring everyone is equal especially in being given the same resources, rights, and opportunities. What this does not take into consideration is where there are differences between people.

Sometimes receiving the same resources, opportunities and rights is simply not enough. Equity goes further to recognize our differences and allocates resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome.

Adrian Jaggard, CEO comments “The road to equality requires equity and here at Taylor Rose MW we are making a collective effort to value and celebrate our differences.”

Keeley Lengthorn, Partner in our Family & Children department has been a major motivation for men and women both in and outside of the firm to embrace equity. Her work on the Miscarriage Leave Bill make’s provision for paid leave for people who have experienced miscarriage, before 24 weeks.

This has been a huge effort to ensure everyone is given the resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome. Alongside this, the enactment of a baby loss policy and Keeley becoming the firm’s first Fertility officer has created a huge shift towards equity over equality for Taylor Rose MW.

We'd like to take a moment to celebrate the achievements of some of the inspirational women in our firm:
