We are delighted to announce the promotion of Amarjit Ryatt to Head of Family and Divorce, marking a significant step in our plans to expand our Family & Divorce department.
Amarjit brings more than two decades of specialist experience in family law and joined Taylor Rose through its merger with MW Solicitors in 2020. Amarjit’s career has spanned both legal aid and private client work and is recognised for his expertise in complex divorce, financial settlements, nuptial agreements and child arrangements. Amarjit is also accredited to the Law Society’s Children Panel, reflecting his expertise in cases involving child welfare.
Our Family & Divorce department has a longstanding reputation for excellence in legal aid and care work. Following a strategic restructuring last year, the team withdrew from legal aid activity and now focuses on private client work.
The department is focused on divorce and financial settlements, child arrangements, cohabitation and pre- and post-nuptial agreements, as well as advising on Trust of Land Act applications. In particular, it is targeting the growing market for these services amongst professionals with substantial assets, multiple properties and significant pensions.
Amarjit leads the department in Carter Lane, London, supported by Partners Gemma Hastewell and Georgina Earl-Hutton. As well as its employed family lawyers, Taylor Rose’s consultancy division boasts over 25 legal consultants with family law expertise.
Commenting on Amarjit’s promotion, Adrian Jaggard, CEO of Taylor Rose said: “Our Family and Divorce team is focused on developing and delivering the specialist support families need as they navigate some of life’s most complex and sensitive moments. Strengthening our capability in this area is a key priority for the firm, and Amarjit’s leadership and expertise will be central to achieving that.”
Amarjit Ryatt, Partner and Head of Family Law and Divorce, said:"Stepping into this role comes at a pivotal time for family law. There is a significant opportunity in the market, especially as we see greater demand for out-of-court resolution hearings, as well as a rise in pre- and post-nuptial agreements as more young professionals enter relationships with a clear focus on protecting their assets. We’re looking to grow the team, supported by the industry-leading infrastructure, technology and support that Taylor Rose provides.”
