Sarah Ryan - Legal STAR – Consultant Solicitor, Peterborough
Sarah is Consultant Solicitor providing legal advice on residential conveyancing, wills and probate. Linked to the Peterborough office, Sarah works mainly from Leighton Buzzard, where she looks after our clients based in the Bedfordshire area. Sarah’s clients are full of enthusiasm for her refreshing manner. They told us that she is superb at what she does, as well as being ‘just very nice’. In particular Sarah received excellent survey feedback from a client and a referrer who both agreed that she had done a fabulous job and that they would recommend her without a doubt.
Sarah says: “I work from home for the conveyancing department, and the main aspect of my role is to help people to buy and sell property with ease."
“It was really exciting when I found out I’d won the award and it made me feel so proud to be recognised for my hard-work."
“I love being able to help people to move into their new home quickly and without any fuss. Hearing their excited voice on the other end of the phone when I tell them they’ve exchanged makes all of the more challenging times worth it!
“Managing a long chain of properties can sometimes be frustrating. I find that maintaining good relationships with the local estate agents helps, as you can work with them to resolve any problems. On busy days balancing the work that needs to be done while keeping clients informed is sometimes a challenge. To overcome this, I tend to have a couple of hours of phone-free time where I can just concentrate on the work.
“Everyone at Taylor Rose TTKW is so friendly and supportive. I also love how they invest heavily in their technology and their people to make sure they stay one step ahead, and can always provide the best service to their clients.
“One of things I enjoy about working for the company is meeting up with other consultants, like we do each year for training and networking - this is really useful.
“I think my key to success in my job is knowing when to push through and when to rest. It is easy to burn out in high-paced jobs like conveyancing, so it is really important to take care of ourselves.
“If I could pass anything on to others in our profession, it would be to say to just be yourself. I think this is important with conveyancing because building a rapport with clients, other solicitors and estate agents makes things easier on more challenging days, and also keeping everyone informed throughout the process, even if it is just a quick ‘there’s no news today’ email, which helps to keep everyone calm and happy.”
Sarah was born in Aylesbury and lives with husband Sean and their two boys James and Thomas in Leighton Buzzard. She keeps a close bond with her parents Brenda and Brian and has lots of good friends.
“Outside work I like to meditate, practice yoga, go out walking, and attend workshops. At home, I enjoy reading and spending time with my boys and my husband (especially losing at Monopoly!).
“My guilty pleasures are crystal / new-age type shops. I could browse for hours. Crystals and books are like shoes to me!
“I like most music, but my favourite songs at the moment are ‘Read All About It Part III’ by Emeli Sande, and ‘Fight Song’ by Rachel Platten.
“I love ‘The Greatest Showman’ and my favourite books are ‘The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho or ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’ by Harper Lee.
“Right now I’m watching the new series of Doctor Who because I am a bit of a sci-fi geek and reading Atomic Habits by James Clear.
“I enjoy going away - especially camping outdoors with my family and friends. There’s something really peaceful about waking up with a hot cup of coffee and sitting outside in nature. The kids really enjoy it too as they can be wild and run around like loons with their friends. Although sitting around the campfire at night with marshmallows and a glass of wine is my favourite bit! We’ve booked to go camping again in the summer with a group of four families – I can’t wait!
“The one thing no-one knows about me is that - outside conveyancing - I really enjoy writing poetry and am halfway through writing a collection called ‘Tomorrow’s Men’ for my boys.”
