Thu 8 March 2018 How do Women in Law celebrate International Women’s Day?

According to the *Solicitors Regulation Authority women make up 48% of all lawyers in law firms in England and Wales, and for other staff working in law firms women make up a whopping three quarters of the workforce.

This is certainly true of top 200 law firm Taylor Rose TTKW, whose last diversity report showed exactly 75% of the workforce being women.

We asked our ladies to comment on why they are so enthusiastic to participate in International Women’s Day.

Helen Townsend, Head of Civil Litigation for our Peterborough office, summed it up by commenting having faced prejudice on grounds of sex in the past I am proud to now be at a firm that has encouraged my career progression and which promotes equality.

Although the industry still lags in appointing women to senior roles Louisa Copsey, Partner at Taylor Rose TTKW explained the firm's commitment to investing in women in leadership roles  "we are extremely proud that three of our seven national offices are headed up by women and the majority of participants on our Management Development Programme are female."

These are just a few positive reinforcements for this year’s International Women’s Day Press for Progress campaign which shows that change is happening. However that doesn’t mean we should be complacent. Our ladies are committed to accelerating gender parity and will be happily sharing their thoughts and quotes from their favourite female icons on Twitter throughout today. Check them out at @taylorrosettkw.
