Elaine is a Resolution (Solicitors Family Law Association) award-winning solicitor, specialising in family breakdown, separation and conflict resolution. Elaine has over 20 years’ experience in family law and she works online with clients across the UK and abroad.
Elaine has gained a reputation for innovative and empathic problem solving in complex cases and, since training as a collaborative family law practitioner in 2005, she works hard to help keep clients out of court. Elaine provides legal advice, support and coaching for clients who are participating in family mediation. Her experience as a family mediator and collaborative practitioner has strengthened her abilities to be objective, to listen and to discuss issues constructively. Elaine uses her skills and experience to make a difference for her clients.
Elaine has worked across the sector with colleagues at Resolution, the Family Justice Council, The Family Mediation Council, with decision-makers in government and with local practitioners. She has influenced national family law policy since 2013 as a member and co-chair of the Law Society Family Law Committee and she is a co-author of the 4th and soon to be published 5th editions of the Family Law Protocol.
As part of a portfolio career, Elaine is a Family Mediation Council accredited child-inclusive mediator, experienced in providing hybrid mediation to clients and their lawyers having successfully offered the hybrid process since its inception in February 2018. Elaine supervises other mediators and is an assessor for the Law Society mediation accreditation scheme.
When Elaine was presented with the prestigious John Cornwell Award in 2019 by Resolution, the family justice organisation, they said “Elaine has made a vast contribution to the family law community throughout her career. This award is thoroughly deserved and recognises the contribution Elaine continues to make to creating a better family justice system.”
